2008 Concrete Pavement Award
The New Indianapolis Airport Project
Two paving projects at the New Indianapolis Airport Midfield Terminal Program were recognized by the American Concrete Pavement Association – Indiana Chapter in receiving their “2008 Excellence in Concrete Pavement Award”.

These projects are bid packages A04 South Apron Paving and A07 North Apron Paving which includes over 110 acres of concrete pavement supporting the aircraft parking areas around the new Midfield Terminal. The value of these packages was approximately $27 million. The pavement consists of 16” thick concrete with a 6” econocrete base place over a stabilized subbase. Concrete was produced from 2 on-site batching plants and was placed using a slipform paving machine equipped with new laser guided technology.

This pavement was constructed in conformance with FAA Specifications consisting of strict quality requirements. Full time inspection and testing was performed by an Independent Laboratory and the designer’s Resident Engineer.

TC&M provided Program Management services and acts as the Program Manager for the Midfield Program. For these specific bid packages TC&M provided a senior project manager who was involved during the design and construction phases of the project.
